Art to Wellness®

Enhancing Day to Day Activities & Social Engagement
Through the Healing Properties of Art

BlueSea Care Services Art to Wellness® is a proprietary art-based intervention program rooted in music, dance, visual arts, and language arts including reading, writing and poetry. All of our programs are designed and supervised by experienced behavior specialists and specifically created to engage our elderly clients on a cognitive level and enhance their lives, furthering our mission to provide innovative senior care with a truly holistic approach.

Research shows that engaging in artistic activities is a soothing, therapeutic, and stress-relieving way to improve mood and sharpen focus. While art cannot cure disease or halt symptom progression, it can engage attention, stimulate brain activity, help develop coping skills, and promote creativity.

An important feature of our Art to Wellness® art-based intervention program is a series of visually stunning adult coloring books, created for our program by local artist, Nora Puls, the author of Joy and Love. Dr. Stan Rodski, a neuropsychologist, notes that coloring elicits a relaxing mindset, similar to meditation. The utilization of coloring books encourages participants of the program to engage in a calm, meditative, and mindful activity that supports creative expression.

The Art to Wellness® program will continue to develop thoughtful, inspirational initiatives that will promote creativity, and serenity for our clients. Additionally, we will continue to share information about the ways in which art can seamlessly integrate with conscientious, holistic care, and how it aligns with our commitment to wellness at every stage of life.

Painting with Mom

A Community Outreach Initiative to Bring Families Together

Approximately 80% of adults provide care to their elderly parents and commonly experience a lot of emotional challenges, usually referred to as Dzcaregiver’s stress.dzFinding a balance to this stress is the key to their ability to keep providing the long-term care that is often necessary.

In an effort to help family members find this balance and connect with their loved ones in an enjoyable, positive way, BlueSea Care is proud to offer an enriching, specially designed art program we call Painting With Mom.

Painting with Mom is a positive community outreach initiative established to encourage and enable families to come together in a fun, supportive and socially stimulating setting. The classes, hosted by local artist and adult coloring book designer, Nora Puls, are free and held at various assisted living facilities, senior centers, nursing homes and adult day care centers across Los Angeles and Orange county.

The city of Seal Beach is thankfully sponsoring the classes that are held at Leisure World – Seal Beach. Follow the link: Register.sealbeachca.gov if you are a Seal Beach resident or sign up to our meet up page https://www.meetup.com/Painting-with-Mom/ to follow us across South California.
